San Gimignano, the Italian town in the upper Val d'Elsa is, with its medieval town center, one of the biggest attractions in Tuscany. San Gimignano is also known as medieval Manhattan or the city of towers. Since 1990, the historical center is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. San Gimignano has still some of the medieval towers. From the once 72 towers in San Gimignano a total of 15 are still standing.
